About the Winery

The Merotto Winery is located in the heart of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG production zone, known for its famous quality Prosecco wines. In these Alpine foothills, the vineyards of Giovanni Merotto are located in a ring of hills surrounding Col San Martino, an ancient Lombard city north of Treviso. Since the early 1970's, Graziano Merotto has been a passionate winegrower. His philosophy is captured in the quote, "To make good wine you need to know the land from which it comes and the sky above." The steepness of the slopes where the vineyards are located means only manual work is possible, a craft handed down across the generations like an authentic religion of the earth, in which respect, sacrifice and dedication represent the authentic and deeply-felt values of traditional farming knowledge.

Veneto
The Conegliano-Valdobbiandene region is a stunningly beautiful set of green hills covered with vineyards. It rains quite a lot there and as a result, the best vineyards generally are found on southern facing slopes with good drainage and gentle winds that dry the grapes out after their daily shower. Prosecco has been made in this area for around 300 years (although earlier styles were likely less bubbly).
Vineyard(s)
Merotto owns 12 hectares of vineyards in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG production zone, and rents another six, for a total annual production of about 2.3 tons of grapes. In addition, Graziano purchases additional grapes from another 25 local growers, who meticulously grow their grapes to achieve the quality levels he requires.

Spumante Brut Rose 'Grani di Nero'
NV

What a charmer. Shell-pink in the glass, this 100% Pinot Noir nimbly proffers notes of raspberry, strawberry, and apricot with a hint of red licorice on both nose and lively palate, where juicy acidity’s smoothed out by a touch of chamomile on the finish.

The NV Brut Rose Grani di Nero lifts from the glass with a savory mix of crushed rocks, wild herbs and dried strawberries. This is a well-chiseled effort, with mineral-tinged bubbles and racy acidity as a rich note of hazelnut custard adds contrast. It leaves the palate completely refreshed as hints of sweet melon and spice slowly taper off. Drinking window: 2022-2025

Prosecco Superiore Dry 'La Primavera di Barbara'
2022
90
The 2022 Dry Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore La Primavera di Barbara is spicy with crushed apple, nectarine and white smoke aromas. It’s round and soothing, with a wave of ripe melon offset by a candied citrus tinge. The 2022 tapers off with medium length and nicely refreshing, leaving the mouth watering for more.
