Gaffino | Rosso 'Roma' 2017 | 92 | This wine features a map of the eternal City on its front label with such detail that I can recognize the street where I live in beautiful Roma. The Cantina Gaffino 2017 Roma Rosso is packaged in a heavy glass bottle pours forth with dark and thickly saturated density. An unusual blend of Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Petit Verdot, the wine is packed extra tight with dark fruit tones, soft tannins and rich density. This is a full-bodied red with super ripe, almost syrupy blackberry fruit. It is the proverbial "bella figura" wine and only 6700 bottles were made. | |
