The shy nose eventually offers whiffs of scorched earth, used leather, coconut and a touch of violet. Showing the scorching heat of the vintage, the palate is assertive but lean on fruit richness, showing dried cherry, prune, tobacco and truffle alongside drying astringent tannins.

Forest floor, French oak, spiced plum and violet aromas take shape in the glass along with an earthy whiff of game. The gamy note follows over to the racy palate along with fleshy black cherry, vanilla and mocha while close-grained tannins provide the backbone.​
