The 2019 Kaltern Blauburgunder Pinot Nero is wonderfully fresh and vibrant, like a dollop of strawberry preserves offset by hints of savory herbs and undergrowth. Soft and pure, it displays ripe red fruits, propelled by a core of minerals and juicy acids, making for an energetic and pleasing expression. Hints of sweet spice and pretty florals linger on the long and refreshing finish

This is a balanced and luminous interpretation of Pinot Noir, with wild berry and cassis. There's not much depth to speak of in the 2018 Alto Adige Pinot Nero, but the wine is broad, wide and satisfying. The fruit is immediate, ripe and balanced having aged just briefly (for four months) in a combination of cement and large oak casks. This one should work just fine on pizza night. ​

Pale garnet; aromas of bing cherry, cardamom and dried rose petals. Medium-bodied, this has a light earthy finish with modest tannins and offers good complexity and varietal flavor. Enjoy over the next year or two.
