The 2019 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Riserva Crisio lifts from the glass with a confectionary blend of sweet spices, almond custard and lemon sorbet. It’s opulent and soothing on the palace, with textures of pure silk offset by a mix of salty minerals and brisk acidity. Tart orchard fruits add further tension toward the close. The 2019 tapers off long, staining and full of tension. A saline tinge and hints of sour lime slowly fade.

Salty and energetic, with baked pear, ginger root, and chamomile. Fresh and clean, with a line of crushed stone that sparks the finish.

Medium-intense yellow; attractive aromas of orange zest, almond, pastry cream and crocus in the finish. Medium-full with very good to excellent concentration. Rich midpalate, excellent persistence, lively acidity, lengthy finish. There is excellent complexity and varietal purity; here is a beautifully made Verdicchio that is wonderful at present and has the structure and richness to cellar well; I predict peak will be in 10-12 years. An impressive achievement with notable complexity and charm.
