Casalfarneto | Verdicchio Riserva 'Crisio' 2018 | 93 | Medium-intense yellow; attractive aromas of orange zest, almond, pastry cream and crocus in the finish. Medium-full with very good to excellent concentration. Rich midpalate, excellent persistence, lively acidity, lengthy finish. There is excellent complexity and varietal purity; here is a beautifully made Verdicchio that is wonderful at present and has the structure and richness to cellar well; I predict peak will be in 10-12 years. An impressive achievement with notable complexity and charm.
Casalfarneto | Verdicchio Riserva 'Crisio' 2018 | 90BB | BEST BUY! The estate picks grapes for this wine at three separate times: early, normal and late harvests. Each timing imprints a unique character. Early harvest gives the bright, fresh green apple and lemon notes. The normal harvest contributes herbal and almond characteristics, and the late harvest adds baked fruit and richness. Both the nose and palate are layered, with each taste showing a new aspect of the wine. Drink now–2035.
Casalfarneto | Verdicchio Riserva 'Crisio' 2018 | 90 | The 2018 Veridcchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva Crisio blossoms in the glass with a rich mix of lemon custard, baked apples and sage. It soothes the palate with opulent textural fruits, showing dried peaches and hints of butterscotch yet all is balanced by cooling acids, a hint of vanilla emerges toward the close. This finishes structured with a citrusy concentration, as tropical florals slowly fade. I'm enjoying the slight confectionary harmony here, yet I find myself missing the varietal character of Verdicchio. |
