The 2016 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Riserva Crisio shows an intensely perfumed bouquet of spicy wild flowers, ginger, white pepper, smoke and stone dust, which slowly pulls back to reveal dried peaches. On the palate, silky, almost-oily textures coat the senses, framed by salty minerality and acids, coming across as round and pliant yet full of energy, showing white orchard fruits with a hint of citrus pith. The finish is long and leaning toward the savory side. There's so much power, and even though you can enjoy this wine today a few years of cellaring will undoubtedly bring even more complexity. The Crisio is refined in a combination of both stainless steel and oak, which is perfectly integrated.
