Fattoria Rodano
Chianti Classico Riserva 'Vigna Viacosta' 2019
92
The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna Viacosta is stellar. Dark, ample and explosive, the 2019 hits the palate with masses of black cherry, gravel, scorched earth, licorice and spice. Readers should plan on cellaring this for at least a few years, as the tannins are formidable today. It’s a Chianti Classico for readers who like strapping, brooding wines. The Viacosta is a rich Riserva endowed with Brunello-like structure, complexity and pedigree. It spent three years in cask and a year in cement.

Flavors of warmed cherry and raspberry coulis are framed by polished tannins in this fruit-forward Riserva. Serve it just above cellar temperature to freshen the warm finish.

This red combines its black cherry and black currant fruit with savory notes of wild rosemary and menthol. It's sleek and well structured, with a long, mouthwatering, iron-tinged finish. Best from 2023 through 2042. 900 cases made, 120 cases imported
